I was up early today, showered and shaved and in a coffee house by 7:45 to use their secured internet. I had to pay some bills, etc. Thank goodness for on line banking. I turned on my data roaming on my phone and got so many warning messages from Verizon about the expense if I go over limit that I shut it off - it scared me! So I used the secure internet connection here. I hope I don't regret it. Anne called while I was here and gave me a couple of bills to pay that came in the mail so her timing was perfect.
When I left the Human Bean coffee house I stopped at a waterfront bakery and bought two buttermilk raisin scones for breakfast. Yum. Lew and Gretchen came to Excalibur for coffee. Lew, Kerry and I decided to ride our bikes to Walmart and then to the grocery.
Walmart was much further than we guessed, and it was mostly uphill. We were tired when we got there for sure. Lew needed groceries and to replace his Dempsey Diver fishing gear that was lost when his line broke. Let’s see . . . $56 for a fishing license, $45 of gear lost when the line broke = an expensive fish if he ever catches one! We needed groceries.
Rain was forecast starting at noon. Walmart did not have the deep diving fishing gear so Lew and I decided to bike to Canadian Tire to get it. Kerry left us to take the refrigerated food back to the boat. I waited for Lew to check out. About 5 minutes after Kerry left the heavens opened. I figured I would have one mad hornet on my hands. Lew and I called a cab to take us and our bikes back to the boat. We watched for Kerry and found her peddling back. She had ducked into a store during the heaviest rain and was pretty dry. We packed her and her bike into the cab. Good thing it was a van. We never got to Canadian Tire.
Once the refrigerator was defrosted I studied the charts for tomorrow’s voyage. Lots of navigation required on this passage. I hope we can get to Sandy Cove rather than tie up at the Murray Canal gate as planned. It’s 5 miles further. Rather quickly a really heavy fog rolled in. I could not see the mouth of the harbor pictured yesterday. I rode to the other side on the harbor to try to get a good picture.
For dinner, we had corn on the cob, and a sausage, tomato, onion and green pepper salad on Excalibur. Coffee and liquors finished off the evening.
